The Masters Was Ridiculously Awesome

The Masters yesterday was amazing and that's saying a lot coming from me.  I'm not some kind of golf super fan.  I'm a terrible golfer who only watches golf on TV for three different reasons; it's Sunday at the Masters and Tiger is in the mix, it's the last day of the Ryder Cup (because I love watching the USA take on an entire continent), and the third is if it is windy as fuck at the British Open and I get to see professional golfers look like fools (and throw in the bonus of ridiculous 140 foot putts if its on a links course).  So I got a treat yesterday when I saw that Tiger was tearing it up on the front nine.

This thing had everything going for it, besides the obvious that it is at Augusta, the only course I can identify within like 3 seconds of seeing it.  You had Tiger just tearing it up and fist pumping like he had just banged a couple porn stars the night before.  There were the Aussies, Jason Day and Adam Scott, both making a charge together.  There was Jason Day's wife coming out of nowhere to get tons of airtime, just because she is smoking hot.

Then there was Charl Schwartzel (seriously bro, what happened to the rest of your first name), who just decided he was going to birdie the last four holes and win this thing, no matter who else was involved.  Oh yeah, and there was Rory McIlroy.

The fugly golf prodigy from Ireland had been tearing it up at the Masters.  He went seven under in round one, three under in round two and two under in round three.  He struggled a bit, going one over on the front nine, and then all of a sudden, he turned into me.  He started hooking everything and hitting balls towards buildings.  Double bogey, bogey, double bogey (ok, so still way better than me) on holes 10 through 12, and that was it, he lost the Masters.  It was like watching car crash in NASCAR, but better, because it lasted way longer and it was all happening because he felt the pressure (not because some redneck cut him off).

Do I feel bad for him?  Not really.  He's a young guy, who plays golf for a living, and is very good at it.  He will have plenty more chances.  But watching those three holes was a brutal/amazing and something I or anybody watching that won't forget anytime soon.
