My Ass, Madden 12 Will Be a Concussion Teaching Tool

ProFootballTalk - This year’s version of the Madden video game will place a new emphasis on concussions, with any player suffering a concussion being sidelined for the rest of the game, and the game announcers (Gus Johnson and Cris Collinsworth) explaining the seriousness of head injuries.
John Madden says he approves of those changes to the game that bears his name.
“Concussions are such a big thing, it has to be a big thing in the video game,” Madden told the New York Times. “It starts young kids — they start in video games. I think the osmosis is if you get a concussion, that’s a serious thing and you shouldn’t play. Or leading with the head that you want to eliminate. We want that message to be strong.”

Let me tell you a couple things about myself before I get into this.  The first thing is that I believe concussions are a serious issue in football and other sports.  The second is that I love Madden Football, and I get it every year right when it comes out.  I'm a full on Madden nerd.

With that being said, do you know what I'm going to learn from this?  I'm gonna learn that knocking guys the fuck out, is a great way to help me win a game.  I'm gonna be abusing the "hit stick" trying to knock guys out for the game.  Let's say its the 2nd quarter and I can't stop the offensive juggernaut that is the Green Bay Packers.  They are just scoring on every drive.  If you think I'm not gonna take some late hits at Aaron Rodgers head you are dead wrong.  Fifteen yards well worth it.  I'm not gonna mess with trying to hurt Greg Jenning though, because I know he will just "put the team on his back, and do this shit for Madden".

I mean this is a video game.  It is supposed to be fun.  I don't need Collinsworth and Gus Johnson telling me how dangerous concussions are, I need my guys strapping their little digital helmets on and getting their asses on the field.  Nobody is going to get post concussion syndrome, because IT'S A FUCKING VIDEO GAME.

If they want to change something about injuries, they should bring back the ambulance that runs over people to get injured guys off the field.  That would be awesome.
