Opening Day is here in Chicago and we get to see what White Sox and Cubs lineups are actually going to look like this year.
White Sox Opening Day Lineup
1. Juan Pierre, LF
2. Gordon Beckham, 2B
3. Adam Dunn, DH
4. Paul Konerko, 1B
5. Alex Rios, CF
6. Carlos Quentin, RF
7. A.J. Pierzynski, C
8. Alexei Ramirez, SS
9. Brent Morel, 3B
The 3,4,5 of the lineup was really where the question was. It looks like Ozzie is going with Dunn and his OBP at the 3 hole over Rios and his speed. Also, if this lineup is going to work this year, Beckham is going to have to play like he did in the second half last year and not have another slow start.
Cubs Opening Day Lineup
1. Kosuke Fukudome, RF
2. Starlin Castro, SS
3. Marlon Byrd, CF
4. Aramis Ramirez, 3B
5. Carlos Pena, 1B
6. Geo Soto, C
7. Alfonso Soriano, LF
8. Darwin Barney, 2B
9. Ryan Dempster, P
I'm not gonna lie. This lineup looks really bad written down. That's not a great 3,4,5 and Fukudome is not what you want leading off. Also, surprise, Darwin Barney is the opening day second baseman. He has to be better than Jeff Baker or Blake Dewitt, so that is probably a good move.
PLAY BALL!!!
P.S. - I think my dick moved a little, when I looked at that picture of Gordon Beckham. He's so dreamy. I'm sure that happened to everybody though, no big deal...right?
