The Bulls just dominated the Celtics last night 97 - 81, and frankly, I'm not surprised. And why should I be? The Bulls have proven that they are the best basketball team in the Eastern Conference (if not the entire NBA) this regular season and the best team in the East should be able to win games easily at home.
What makes the Bulls, the best team in the East? Well, besides the results, they have Derrick Rose, who is the MVP, no matter what any of the ESPN talking heads (haters) say. He proved it again last night, dropping 30 points (on only 16 shots) and dishing out 8 assists against Rondo (who people thought gave him trouble) and the Celtics. Oh yeah and they also have Deng (who has played great this year), Noah, Boozer and the best bench in the NBA. And maybe more important then all of that, they now have an amazing defense. Thibs is a defensive genius and has the Bulls playing the best defense I have ever seen them play (and that includes the old Jordan and Pippen teams). I could explain to you how good their defense is or I can just show you this screen cap from a couple nights ago.
Those numbers are just sick and last night their defense did it again. They held the Celtics, an elite NBA team, to 38% shooting. Basically made them look like Butler in the National Championship Game. The Bulls made the Celtics look like an old team that used to be good last night.
As excited as I am about this team, I am also trying to be realistic. If you notice at the beginning of this post, I said the Bulls have proven they are the best team this regular season. The playoffs are coming, and things change in the playoffs. The Celtics looked like shit before the playoffs last year, and made the Finals. In fact every team the Bulls will play after round one, will be more playoff tested than they are, and one thing that NBA history has shown us, is that a team has to pay their playoff dues before they win the title, and the Bulls haven't done that.
Derrick Rose has never won a playoff series, but that will change after they steam roll the Pacers in the first round this year, and for all we know, history may change too. I won't put anything past this Bulls team, absolutely nothing.
